I would like to have time to make lessons and share what everyone has made.

I would like to create some lessons for the first few days of school – hopefully using some of the new stuff in the toolkit. For the next three days, I plan to explore a couple of the sites that looked interesting – EdHeads and Exploring the SmartBoard way(?)

I would also like to organize my favorite links in Delicious and possibly have time to add a link to my webpage.

    * Tweak some of the lessons that I found on Smart Technologies site to fit my students’ needs.

    * Use the new Lesson Activity Tool Kit to create some new templates.

    * Create some templates for Harcourt math lessons that are used daily.

I want to practice using the software to increase my understanding and comfort level of using the software. Having the time to simply explore with guidance available will be awesome.

I would like to create at least three interactive Smartboard lessons. So far I’ve gathered some ideas for science lessons on sound and light. I am very interested in creating a math lesson on probability or graphing. These math standards are not covered very well in our math program.

I would like to create several interactive SmartBoard lessons that go along with the new Science and Social Studies curriculum. I found some interactive sites that go along with Sound and Light that students could use to rotate through in class. I would like to see which standards can be met through interactive sites online and through the SmartBoard software.

I want to make some daily routine work to get use to the programs- Level A stuff. Then I want to make one interactive lesson. I want to practice while the experts are around.

I would like to take some time to practice with the CD while I am here with good support. I am hoping that this will increase my comfort level with all the new learning for the smartboard. Next I would like to begin to create a few basic lessons to start using my smartboard at the beginning of the year.

    Wednesday goal-
Continue exploring notebook lessons from the Smartboard site which correlate to our AZ Language Arts standards.
Begin selecting lessons or parts of lessons that I can use in my first Lang. Arts lesson this coming year.

    Thursday goal-
    Begin developing Notebook lesson.

    Friday goal-
    Finish Notebook lesson.
If time work on Notebook lessons begun earlier.

How do I narrow down what I want to do??
I would like to find and “tag” a wide variety of resources first. Then by Thursday and Friday I might try to make my own or convert some of the activities to notebook from PowerPoint….especially the ones that need revisions now that I’ve used them and know what works and what does not.
What frustrates me the most is spending 4-5 hours looking for resources during the school year and coming out with one lesson. EEEKK!!
I think this class will alleviate this.

I would like to have more time to explore various lessons that have already been created and are on the web. I would also like to find some interactive tools that I can use in the classroom that are appropriate to my subject matter.

I also would like to create some A level basic lessons using Notebook to get me started for the first month of school which can later be tweaked to a higher level if appropriate.

I would like to create one verb presentation in Spanish and one vocabulary lesson I can use in Spanish II this year. Once I have a plan that works, I can duplicate it with different information / pictures in it to use in other lessons. These will involve use of color, hiding words, maybe writing in missing words. I will also download the software to my own computer at home and view the CD and experiment with it.

I would like to create some lesson plans for the first week of school. To create some templates for math and language arts. Also to continue becoming familiar with the SmartBoard. Thanks.

  • Nancy Byrd // July 10, 2007 at 11:59 pm

I am loving this! I plan on spending a great deal of time looking at resources, finding some to save on my stick drive, and make some lessons on language arts, social studies, and math. I started a lesson on multiple meaning words today.

Plan for Leif Erickson: Smart Board Collaborative

Goal: I want to learn what the capabilities of the Smartboard are. As an English teacher in high school, I am looking for presentation options for myself and my students. I think I will begin by thinking about what ways students can use this in their own presentations and in the instruction of writing. I see the most interactive uses when it comes to writing and grammar instruction, so I will be focused on these two areas.

At the moment I don’t know if this will definitely be my direction, but it will become clear as the week progresses.

I would like to build a carbon chemistry lesson that includes visuals, deomos, and a construction activity for my students. I would like to include relevant links to help my students explore different aspects of carbon and carbon molecules in their lives and current research.

  • Anne G // July 11, 2007 at 12:00 am

I would like to find some interactive sites that I can use with the kids and then bookmark them to the del.icio.us page. I would also like to create some lessons that be used at the beginning of the year. (such as Guess the Covered Word)

  • Cathy Moore // July 11, 2007 at 12:02 am

SMART Plan for remainder of week:

•Set up bookmarks for delicious account
•Find more interactive/higher level thinking sites for the 4th grade math and science curriculum: weather, electromagnets, geometry and fractions.
•Would like to find some language activities for affixes – prefixes and suffixes
•Would like to make a few SMART Notebook pages for teaching comprehension strategies.

    I would like to
    1. See how to put PowerPoint and Word files into my notebook.
    2. See how to build artwork in My Content and have it become part of a new
    Notebook file that I start.
    3. See how to do animation and sound
    4. Find and copy new artwork into the gallery
    5. Learn to use available tools that would help demonstrate mathematical
    principles

As a Smart Board “Rookie” my goals for the next 3 days and beyond include:
~Lots of practice with the basics
~Exploring how Writers’ Workshop connects with Smart Board technology, and
~Becoming familiar with interactive science sites so that I can begin to create lessons that support the 2nd grade science standards.
